INNU BABIES BORN INTO INNU HANDS ON INNU LANDS

Indigenous Services Canada Logo

At the Innu Midwifery Program we believe that healthy communities begin at birth. We are committed to restoring the ceremony of birth on Innu lands though community-based midwifery education and training as a foundational act of sovereignty, intergenerational healing, and meaningful reconciliation. â€‹

We believe that the ceremony of birth can be facilitated anywhere, whether it be on the land, at home, in a birth centre, or in hospital, and we do our best to facilitate people’s choices and their needs. We work to support our clients where they are, to ease challenges, and provide collaborative and culturally safe and sensitive care.

We are guided by ancestral and traditional knowledge which is corroborated through evidence-based models of care and strengthened through allyship and collaboration with modern healthcare systems and science.
