OUR SERVICES
WHO CAN ACCESS CARE WITH INNU MIDWIFERY PROGRAM?
The Innu Midwifery Program's (IMP) team of Innu and non-Innu midwives and students offers midwifery care to members of the Innu communities of Sheshatshiu and Natuashish (including our IRT Sec staff and family) and residents of Northwest River.
ABOUT THE IMP LOCUM MIDWIFERY PROGRAM
The IMP makes midwifery care accessible to the community through a locum midwifery program where a rotation of registered midwives from across Canada travel to Sheshatshiu to provide clinical midwifery services for various periods of time. The Innu student midwives work with locum midwives to provide care and gain hands-on clinical experience, thereby ensuring that community members have access to local maternity care while supporting the learning and mentorship of the the Innu midwifery students.
