SAMANTHA Paneshita ANDREW
INNU MIDWIFERY STUDENT - YEAR 2
I am a member of Mushuau Innu First Nation. I am a mom of five kids, three boys and two girls and a grandma of three, two boys and one girl. I was inspired to become a midwife by one of my grandmothers and the stories she told me about childbirth in the past.
Having Innu midwives in Natuashish will
make a big difference in the lives of
women, their families, and within
the community.
I had my first child while I was 16 years old.
For my labour and the birth I wanted to have
the support of my six sisters and my mother.
But I was only allowed to have two of them in the room with me. My experiences make me want to pursuit my dreams of becoming an Innu midwife and helping others.
