Hello, my name is Mackenzie and I’m 23 years old. I am a member of the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation and have lived in Sheshatshiu all my life. I am a first-year Innu Student Midwife, as well as a mom of a little boy.

My goal is to help women and their families during pregnancy, postpartum, and with their babies.

Becoming a midwife has always been a dream of mine

ever since I became a mom. I had a great experience

during pregnancy, birth and postpartum, this made me

want to give the same treatment back to other women,

so they could feel comfortable and understood.

I am looking forward to learning more about

Midwifery and getting to help Innu women in

both communities of Sheshatshiu and Natuashish by providing them the best care.
